Jacques Adnet, attribution

wall-mounted coatrack

Jacques Adnet was a harbinger of French Modernism, working with simple, understated forms and rich materials. His early works that made him famous are mostly in glass and metal, but in the 1950s he was one of the first to begin thoughtfully incorporating leather- as in his well-known and oft-copied round porthole mirror affixed to a leather strap and his later collaborations with Hermès.This fine coatrack is an iconic example of Adnet elevating every day, functional items to luxury goods.
