Jon Brooks
occasional table
Jon Brooks creates very personal, optimistic works that accord with his immediate surroundings. Materials are sourced from his wooded property in New Hampshire, where the landscape, his studio and his home seem to blur into one encompassing vision. Also inspired by and a student of Aboriginal art, Jon describes his furniture and sculpture as objects “you can dance with,” and considers function to be a chosen limitation. This table, rough-hewn in its execution, playful and suggestive, is an example of 1970s American studio art at its most inspired.
